HB-2158 political activity passed the Senate Government committee unanimously 7-0 and will move onto Rules committee consideration. HB-2275 Condo Terminations was assigned to yesterday’s Senate rules committee but was held from consideration. This could be very bad news or a simple bump in the road. I believe that based on the comments from the Commerce committee members that heard this bill last week, the sponsor has to do something in the form of an amendment to that bill to get it passed in the Senate. While I’ve provided him with such an amendment he has not responded to my suggestion. He may be considering other possibilities. The action by the Rules chair may simply be a message to the sponsor that unless he provides an amendment for Senate consideration this bill will never be heard in the rules committee and thereby killed. it could also mean that the Rules chair has already decided that she will not consider that bill in Rules and has decided to kill the bill outright no matter what the sponsor does. I’ve asked the sponsor to let me know whatever he decides so that i can help direct all of my membership on what they can do next to support passage of that bill. I’ve not heard back from the sponsor and am in a holding pattern until I hear anything.

I signed into RTS Monday and see now that I commented about political activity on the wrong bill! Clearly I was confused by having too many bills to quickly choose from.
However I am thrilled about the passage of HB-2158. What next to participate in furthering the bill into law?
