Restricting Political Canvassing in our HOA?

Our HOA has a published policy to prevent door to door solicitation/canvassing in our community and includes polical canvassing in the policy. We understand that AZ state law says we can canvass door to door in any community. The policy doesn’t mention exactly who cannot canvass in our community but says they have this right:

4. SOLICITATION & CANVASSING
a) Door to door solicitation and/or canvassing is prohibited within The Highlands. This includes political
solicitation.
b) Under Arizona law, a planned community that restricts vehicle or pedestrian access has the right to
prohibit political solicitation

Are we truly stopped from walking door to door in our own community?
Thank you
Holly

    Holly,
Your associations policy is a direct violation of Arizona law. Unless your association restricts visitors they have absolutely no right to restrict political canvassing. Your association and their incompetent attorney clearly failed third grade reading class. There is absolutely no mention relative to vehicle or pedestrian traffic in the statute.
