Voting
When it comes to voting, who is allowed to count the votes? We read the CCRs and it doesn’t give much information. I’m hearing in the past the HOA property mgmt would take them and count. I have been on other boards in the past, Florida, and we would have someone in the community count the votes right there. Our voting is in January. I appreciate all your feedback. I share it with the other concerned community members.

Angela,
There are no state statutes relative to this issue. the association board is responsible for the conduct and integrity of the election but that has little true impact in these communities. Boards are free to establish any protocol they want for ballot counting. They can abdicate it totally to the community manager or they can assign a committee consisting of the community manager and uninvolved community members to oversee the ballot handling and counting. This is simply another one of those issue where I will never get the state to tell these communities how to do this and simple common sense and a sense of fairness simply does not exist in these communities.
