Our community held its annual meeting today and there was a 4 way tie on 4 of the 6 candidates for a 5 member board. The question was raised whether to do a run off election or to ask and see if anyone wanted to voluntarily step down. One candidate quickly raised her hand and said that she would drop out. We told her she needed to put that in writing. The new board was announced, members moved, seconded voted to adjourn. People started leaving. About 10 minutes after the meeting adjourned, the candidate came up to the table where we were cleaning up and stated that she did not want to drop out. She was told that it was too late. The new board was announced. Does the board have any right to change anything that took place in the meeting once the meeting was adjourned or change who won the election just because the candidate changed her mind after the meeting adjourned?
